The Society for Education and Training (SET) is the professional membership body for the Further Education and Training Sector.

The SET is the independent, member-led professional body for individual teachers, trainers, tutors, assessors and other professionals working in the education and training sector.

As a professional body, the SET has a distinct role in supporting individuals to be excellent in their practice, thereby enhancing the professional status of teachers and trainers. The SET focuses on the continuing professional development (CPD) of members and developing valuable services to support their professional development and excellence, in order to deliver the best possible teaching experience to millions of learners.

Membership of the SET enhances your status as a teacher or trainer and provides recognition that you are remaining in good professional standing.

The SET also offers Advanced Teacher Status (ATS) for those practitioners who hold QTLS and wish to demonstrate advanced mastery in further education and training. For more information on ATS, see the website.

The SET also offers Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) which is the professional status that you can gain by successfully completing professional formation. This is open to practitioners who hold a full teaching qualification for the sector.
