FE Initial Teacher Training (ITT) Bursaries

FE Initial Teacher Training (ITT) Bursaries

The training bursary is a financial incentive to attract and retain new high quality graduates to become teachers in the Further Education (FE) sector.  Bursary levels will vary according to the degree classification held by the trainee and the specialism in which they wish to train to teach, either English language or mathematics (from basic to GCSE and level 3). Please note, the values have been changed for 17/18: trainees must have at least a 2:2 degree to access a bursary for mathematics, and at least a 2:1 degree for the English language bursaries.  Application for the bursary is made via the teacher training provider and any queries about the progress of your application should be addressed to them. The overall scheme is administered by NCTL on behalf of DfE.

DfE has produced a Note for Providers re the 17/18 Bursary (download here  Note for Providers FE ITT Bursaries and SKE August 2017 PDF.pdf) in advance of publishing the full Guidance for 17/18, which should be available shortly. The 16/17 Guidance can be downloaded from here
